2017 Community Christmas Day Lunch

The 2017 Christmas Day Lunch marked the 10th Community Christmas Day Lunch which was coordinated and hosted by Mossman Support Services.

The event attracted up to 137 people who enjoyed a buffet of fresh prawns, barramundi, glazed ham, turkey rolls, bbq sausages, salads, christmas cake, traditional mince pies, fruit and soft drinks.  Will Cotter again donated his time to provide the entertainment and we had up to 29 volunteers who assisted on Christmas Day and a further 6 people who helped decorate the hall, set up the tables, pick up and deliver items in preparation for the lunch.  All those attended received a gift and a warm welcome by the Volunteers.

This year has been the biggest crowd we have catered for and we acknowledge the Volunteer Committee; Christine Price, Anne Lloyd and Peter Lloyd for providing many hours of work leading up to Christmas and on the day.  Their generosity and dedication to providing the best possible event for our Community is applauded.

The Chairman of the Board of Mossman Support Services Kerrie Jamieson said she is overwhelmed by the support of volunteers both before, during and after the event and acknowledges the wonderful work done by Christine Price, Jill Bradley and Anne and Peter Lloyd.  Mossman Support Services provides a year round support to the Community culminating in this wonderful event but it is only possible with the assistance provided by these people and the Community in general.

We would also like to acknowledge the generous donations received from local families, individuals, schools and businesses including; Douglas Shire Council, Bubu Excavations, Anglican Church, Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Fish Farm, Gold Coast Marine Authority, Miallo State School, Mossman Bakery, Mossman Bowls Club, St Augustine School, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Bette Well, Coles - Port Douglas, IGA - Port Douglas, Lesley Shorten, Malones Butcher, Mossman Butcher, Mocka Pies, Port Douglas & District Combined Club, Mick from Mojos Bar & Grill and Will Cotter.  Without this support the event would not be possible, thank you.
