Our organisation is actively seeking applications for a number of open positions on our Board of Directors. Openings to suit a variety of skill sets however, we actively encourage those of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander decent, finance, marketing and community service or not for profit management experience to apply.

MEET THE BOARD


Debbie Cooper,

Chair

Qualifications: Bachelor of Business (Rural Management) - Queensland Agricultural College (now part of University of Queensland)

Experience & Expertise: Conveyancer/Legal Secretary, previous Board of St Augustine's Primary School, Mossman

Chris Hameister, Director

Chris Hameister returned to Australia in 2011, to set up home at Wonga Beach after 23 years living and working overseas in over 70 countries. His career rapidly grew in US technology companies to Vice President, responsible for KPIs based around financial results, revenue growth, customer success & staff career growth. 

On return, he volunteered at Mossman Support Services to coordinate the set-up of the Men's Shed, followed by joining the Board of Directors in 2017.  In 2020, he undertook the secretarial role and primarily focuses on business and finance, and supporting the Manager and Finance Officer. 

He is also a mentor for students with the Smith Family. 



Peter Mc Keown,

Director

Experience and Expertise: Business, Local Councillor, Small Business Owner

Pheobe Kitto,

Director

Phoebe serves as the Director of Human Resource Dynamics with a wealth of experience and expertise. A resident of the Douglas Shire since 2000, she brings a strong commitment to good governance and ethical practices. Her diverse array of business skills positions her as an invaluable asset to the organisation, enabling her to navigate complex challenges effectively. Known for her lateral thinking, Phoebe is adept at developing innovative solutions that drive organisational success.



Stephen Oldham, Director

Qualifications: Registered Nurse (retired), Post Grad Dip Palliative Care Nursing, Masters in Nursing (University Technology, Sydney)

Authorised Celebrant (retired)

Experience and expertise:  

A life time of traveling worldwide found Stephen moving to Douglas Shire in 2008.  After a 35 year international career in Nursing, specialising predominantly in Palliative Care, with many leadership positions within Clinical, Education and Management.  

After 16 years of hard work, he and his partner, Paul, developed and expanded Community Funerals. They are immensely proud of the company and team they left behind upon retirement.

Stephen has a strong skill set and is committed to volunteering in his community, eager to apply his skills.

 

 

 

Tina Alderson, Secretary

Qualifications: Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Management; Masters of Applied Science; Diploma of Business (Frontline Management)

Experience and Expertise:

With 25 years of dedicated service in Protected Area Management for both State and Commonwealth Governments, Tina has held various roles within the Queensland and Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service, as well as the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. Additionally Tina served as a board member for Cradle Coast Natural Resource Management, the regional NRM body for North-western Tasmania, from 2012 to 2016.
