If you were seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident in Queensland on or after 1 July 2016, you may be eligible for support through the National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIISQ) — regardless of who was at fault. The National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland — what you need to know. NIISQ is a no-fault scheme — which means your eligibility for support is not determined by who caused the accident. If you were seriously injured, you may still qualify regardless of fault. NIISQ provides eligible people with necessary and reasonable treatment, care and support following serious personal injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Queensland. NIISQ and the NDIS are two separate schemes with different eligibility requirements, available supports and funding methods. They are administered by different agencies and operate independently.
Both NIISQ and the NDIS also operate separately to other government supports such as education, public health services and transport. Eligibility for one does not automatically affect eligibility for the other.
