How to apply

Seven simple steps from expression of interest to your first day — we'll support you every step of the way.

1

Submit an Expression of Interest

Complete the Volunteer Application Form below, outlining your availability, interests and any relevant experience. There's no experience required — just a willingness to help!

2

Referee Check

Provide the name and contact details of at least two referees. They may be contacted to confirm your suitability — a neighbour, community member or former employer is perfectly fine.

3

Informal Interview (if required)

You may be invited to attend a relaxed, informal chat with our team to discuss your interests, availability and how you'd like to contribute. Nothing to stress about — we're friendly!

4

Acceptance & Placement

Successful applicants will be notified in writing and matched to a volunteer role based on their skills, interests, availability and our organisational needs.

5

Screening & Compliance Checks

Volunteers may be required to hold, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children check (Blue Card) and/or a Disability Services Positive Notice (Yellow Card).

We can help you through this process — please don't let it put you off applying. Our team will guide you every step of the way.
6

Induction & Orientation

All volunteers complete an induction covering an overview of MSS, our key policies (WH&S, Privacy, Code of Conduct) and role-specific training. You'll feel confident and prepared before you start.

7

Welcome to the Team! 🎉

Once induction and all compliance requirements are completed, you'll commence your volunteer role under the guidance of your supervisor. We're so glad to have you on board!
