We are managing a serious security incident on Facebook
Mossman Support Services does not currently have a safe or secure Facebook account. We have lost access to our official page and any affiliated groups, and this has been escalated with Meta as our highest priority.
What’s happening
Dear Community Members, Partners, Volunteers and Local Businesses,
We are writing to advise that Mossman Support Services is currently managing a serious security incident involving our Facebook presence. We no longer have access to our official Facebook page or any affiliated groups. We are working closely with Meta to have the compromised page removed and the issue resolved as quickly as possible.
If your business or organisation has linked, tagged or affiliated itself with Mossman Support Services on Facebook, please temporarily remove or delink that connection until we advise it is safe to reconnect.
We also ask our community to remain vigilant. Please exercise caution if you receive messages, friend requests, fundraising appeals or other communications claiming to be from Mossman Support Services through Facebook or Messenger.

Please do not:
Avoid these- Engage with the compromised Facebook page or any affiliated groups.
- Donate money through any Facebook fundraiser, cause or payment request claiming to support Mossman Support Services.
- Accept friend requests from unknown people claiming to be associated with Mossman Support Services.
- Respond to Facebook Messenger messages claiming to be from Mossman Support Services, Meta, or anyone requesting personal information.
- Click on links sent through Facebook Messenger or suspicious Facebook posts relating to Mossman Support Services.
- Provide passwords, verification codes or financial information to anyone claiming to be assisting with this issue.
Please do:
Take these steps- Report any suspicious posts, messages or profiles impersonating Mossman Support Services to Facebook immediately.
- If you have interacted with the compromised page recently, consider changing your Facebook password, enabling two-factor authentication, and reviewing your Facebook security settings.
- If you believe you have shared banking details or made a payment, contact your financial institution immediately.
A note on legitimacy
Please note that any communication received through Facebook or Messenger claiming to be from Mossman Support Services should not be considered legitimate at this time.
Once Meta has resolved the matter and we have completed our own due diligence to ensure the security of a new official Facebook page, we will notify everyone through our website, email, newsletters and other trusted communication channels. Only then will we invite the community to reconnect with our new page.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience, understanding and support while we work through this issue. Protecting our clients, staff, volunteers, supporters and the wider community remains our highest priority.
If you have any concerns, or believe you have been contacted by someone impersonating Mossman Support Services, please contact us directly by telephone or email rather than through Facebook.
